Hela - Official Gameplay Developer Deep Dive Video | IGN Fan Fest 2026

During IGN Fan Fest 2026, Hela received a new official gameplay developer deep dive, offering the most detailed look yet at its core mechanics and world design. The video centers on the Froggy Backpack, a magical companion that defines movement and interaction across Hela’s open, Scandinavian-inspired landscapes. Players can swing using the frog’s tongue, climb, pull and move objects, build bridges, glide, bounce, and plunge to reach new areas and uncover hidden paths.

The deep dive also highlights Hela’s cooperative design philosophy. Challenges are built for up to four players, while the Shade system ensures solo players can complete multi-character puzzles without compromising the experience. Combined with heartwarming storytelling and non-violent, exploration-driven gameplay, this new trailer reinforces Hela’s focus on creativity, freedom, and gentle adventure ahead of its 2026 launch on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
