Hela: Of Mice & Magic will launch December 1, 2026, on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The wholesome co-op adventure arrives day and date across every platform.
A new story trailer, released today by Windup Games, tells the origin of Hela's mouse familiars — how the Kind Witch bound them to their magical Froggy Backpacks — in a world drawn from the woods of Northern Sweden. It's the first real look at the story behind the adventure players have been wishlisting for months, and it sets the tone for the game itself: gentle, a little mischievous, and rooted in real Scandinavian folklore.
The release date itself was confirmed today during Nintendo's September Direct and their showcase of Hela: Of Mice & Magic.
If this is your first time hearing about Hela, a quick introduction: it's a co-op exploration game built around curiosity rather than combat, and it already has two Gamescom 2025 awards to its name, Most Wholesome Game and Most Entertaining Game. It comes from Windup Games, a Swedish studio founded by veterans of Unravel's own development team, bringing that same physics-driven, handcrafted sensibility to an original world.
